[Subtitle Translation] The Ear Shooting Ceremony in Taki Vatan



  1. Malahodaigian, the Ear Shooting Ceremony commenced in the sound of the gun shot.
  2. The tribal elders too offered the crops they grew by themselves and worshiped to the ancestral spirits for another peaceful and prosperous year.
  3. In order to pass down the culture of Bunun, many elders were teaching the children how to shoot boars' ears with bow and arrow.
  4. Many expatriate Bunun of Taki Vatan took the chance to return to Rubas (Wanrong) to attend the annual Ear Shooting Ceremony.
  5. Besides the ceremony, many traditional performing art competitions were held to preserve the culture at the same time.
  6. The Bunun people of Taki Vatan mainly live in three tribes: Kunuan, Tamayan, and Tungkuang.
  7. Even though the Bunun here are surrounded by the Truku people, they don't forget their own culture and will keep holding the Ear Shooting Ceremony to preserve the culture.
